Alkin Tezuysal was a guest on HOSS Talks FOSS, Episode 10 — one of Percona’s most popular podcast episodes of 2021. The conversation covers his journey from enterprise database administration into open-source, his role as a Vitess maintainer, the rise of PlanetScale and cloud-native MySQL, and — unexpectedly — sailing.
The episode explores how Alkin balanced a demanding database career with a lifelong passion for the sea, and what the open-source community means to him beyond the technical work.
HOSS Talks FOSS is produced by Percona, focused on open-source database engineering and the people who build it.
